WASPI Campaign
I have been receiving a lot emails from Constituents regarding the WASPI campaign
I do understand the disappointment felt by those effected by this issue and by past announcements by previous Governments and the new Government that they do not intend to compensate Waspi women and that they the rejected the Ombudsman’s findings.
Although I can see that awarding full compensation is probably not realistic given then overall cost to the Treasury and the precedent it would potentially set on other related retirement age issues, I am surprised that the Government has not agreed so far to some partial compensation given the Ombudsman’s report is very clear that the Department for Work and Pensions did not communicate changes to the Pension age clearly. Ministers have indicated in the past week that will be making announcement on this in early March.
I have previously to Ministers to ask if they would reconsider the issue and the response I received can be found here: https://acrobat.adobe.com/id/urn:aaid:sc:EU:79e6a1bd-b092-415a-aaf0-2555b2a9acc5
I will write to Ministers again to raise the issues and I will post the response here as soon as it is received.
